How it Works?

The rose species grown and distilled for doTERRA rose essential oil is Damask Rose (Rosa damascena). Rose bushes are typically planted in the autumn and are ready for picking around May or June. Roses prefer sandy, clay-free soil with a sunny, moderately moist climate and mild winters.

The essential oil is extracted from the flower petals via steam distillation. The flowers are hand-picked in the early morning hours and distilled later the same day. It is important that the rose petals are distilled on the day of harvest to maximize oil yield from the delicate, fine petals.
